I Just Realized...

by Jeff Patterson on 06/11/12

...that I have not explained my lengthy absences as of late.

The fact is I, my beloved Jennifer, and the whole of Bad Day Studio's Global Headquarters, are pulling up stakes and moving to Virginia. A scant week and a half ago I got a job offer in the outer circles of metro DC. Four days later we had a place lined up. The ensuing time has been spent dismantling the machinery, purging vast sections of my various collections (collection is a prettified word "things I hadn't bothered getting rid of yet."), arranging trucks and movers, and basically coming to terms with the fact that I will no longer be here in unseasonably cool CT. The overriding fact is this: at my age, if someone offers you a career-level job, you take it.

Still, with the exception of a few brief stints, I have been a New Englander all of my life. And as much I dislike the city of my birth, not to mention the tax nightmare that CT has become in the past decade, I have always made the best of it. Also, this move signifies my leaving broadcasting, something that's affecting me more than I expected. It's like fleeing the bedside of a dying relative.

So updates will be few and far between for the remainder of the month. And I'll be taking a break from the SF Signal Podcast (which will probably improve their chances of a Hugo) until the spacetime transition is complete.

Now you'll excuse me, my Power Lifter Suit has finished charging, and a Guild Heighliner has just folded space above me.

Oh, if only it were that easy...
